We’re sure to have the right items to help keep your feathered friends happy, creating a wonderful bird habitat.

  • Bird perches: Perches are some of the most important items in a bird's cage, used for standing, playing, and also cleaning their beaks. This is why a well-designed perch is crucial for a bird’s health & comfort. By providing a variety of perch types, textures, and lengths, you help maintain foot health as it encourages natural foot movements and reduces the risk of sores or arthritis.
  • Bird toys and swings: Toys and movement-based accessories are just as important as perches for your bird's mental and physical wellbeing. Swings and ladders are great for adding variety to your birds’ environment and helping prevent boredom in naturally active birds. Our swing and nine-step ladder are great starting points for adding enrichment to your bird's space, and work well used alongside a mix of perch types at different heights.
  • Bird houses: Bird houses and nesting boxes give pet birds a sense of security and a private space to retreat and rest. For pet birds such as budgies, cockatiels and canaries, a well-placed nesting box can significantly reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour.

Bird houses and perches FAQs

Why do birds need more than one type of perch?

To encourage natural foot movement as they would in the wild, helping to reduce sores. Offering two or three different perch styles is usually ideal for most birds.

Do pet birds need a nesting box?

Not all pet birds need a nesting box, but many species do benefit from having one available.

How do I choose the right bird house?

The size, style and entrance hole of a nesting box should match the intended species, as every bird has different requirements. For small cage birds, look for compact wooden houses with a suitably sized entrance hole.

Where should I place perches in a bird's cage?

You should place your perches at different heights so your bird moves among them and climbs naturally. By doing this, the birds can climb, stretch, and move naturally throughout the day. Avoid placing perches directly over bird food or water bowls to prevent droppings from contaminating them.
