VOM is made from slaughter by-products, i.e. the remaining parts of an animal after fillets and chops have been removed for human food production. Since wealth in Norway has increased the last couple of years, our eating habits have also transformed. Offal such as beef tripe, liver, lung and kidney were served on our dinner table just a few decades ago but are now found in our pet food bowls instead. Together with meat and fat trimmings from cattle, lamb and pork they form first class commodities for our dogs.
The raw materials we use in our products are from chicken, beef, pork, lamb, salmon and egg. All our products include vitamin and mineral additives to ensure that the dog`s daily requirements for nutrients are met.
We purchase chicken by-products such as skin, wing tips, throat, bones, liver, heart, gizzard and meat cuttings. The bones that are rich with meat are wealthy in nutrients and found in all our mixes that contain chicken. It is possible to discover small bones and bites of gristle in raw dog food, but they do not represent any health risk for your dog. They are in fact an important fat, protein and mineral source. Protein deriving from chicken have the very best amino acid composition and are therefore a basic ingredient in our complete dog food mixes.
Egg provides a very good source of essential amino acids aswell, and provides a good supplement of many vitamin and minerals. It is cooked before use, and therefore more easily absorbed.
We use only salmon from Norwegian fish farms. They provide lots of omega-3 and essential DHA and EPA fatty acids. In addition, they contain astaxanthin, a very powerful antioxidant.
